The Full Story
Plans are now well advanced for the upgrade and extension to Studio 73. While the studio is proving a great new home it does have limitations which will entail some major work on the existing studio space and an extension to the north of the building which will house new toilets, a kitchenette, a dressing room/green room space, and a small foyer. The new entrance will lead from a short pathway between the Council toilet facility and the existing studio. There will be no fixed seating - it will be a multi-purpose space that we can configure for each show and be better for our community users. The artist's impression gives a feel for the new building however it should be noted most of this will not be viewable from the footpath as it's obscured by the toilet block. Things are moving with our plans to upgrade Studio 73. Full funding still to be put in place. We have developed a 'donor programme' where businesses, individuals and organizations can support the project. The Studio (former Hato Hone St John Hall) has been around for more than 60 years and our upgrade will give Studio 73 new life for the community and our use for the next 60 years.
